Junior High School 2

Junior High School2

Recently I had the choice to instruct at either the high school, junior high or elementary school level in my school district, and I selected junior high school. It absolutely was not something that I had against high school or elementary school students, it has just been my expertise that junior high school students have to have the best help.
I started out being a elementary school teacher when I begun my teaching career, and it absolutely was good. The kids were being eager to discover, and watching them begin to realize the subjects they had been studying and begin to socialize with others was excellent for me to determine.

As time went on, I moved around a bit and taught at diverse levels, including high school. I enjoyed teaching in the school place, as well, due to the fact the students have been more grown up and were being preparing for their lives after school. It absolutely was exciting to determine my students get excited about the colleges they planned to attend or what they wanted to do in existence, and it had been quite fulfilling.
I ultimately chose to teach at a junior school, nonetheless, mainly because I began to realize that these have been the students that required the best help. Junior high school is also the time when students commence to become seriously attracted towards the opposite sex and their bodies are changing essentially the most, and there’s a whole lot of confusion. A good deal of students have a tough time in the junior high stage, and I wanted to view if I could help.
It really is difficult occasionally to deal with junior school students and some of their complications. It can be particularly complicated for me to view students being picked on or excluded, and I constantly make it a point in my class to obtain everybody involved and comfortable inside the environment.
What We have identified in the junior high school place is that I need to locate a great balance between allowing my students the space they require to expertise the individual growth that goes along with becoming a teenager and obtaining ready for school, whilst still keeping them under control and understanding that you will discover consequences for bad behavior.
Although we have discovered my time as a junior high school teacher for being among one of the most challenging years of my existence, I’ve also discovered them being probably the most rewarding by far. When the opportunity presented itself to move up to high school or down to elementary school this past year, I opted to stay put.

If you are called upon to deliver a middle school graduation speech, you should think very carefully about what you are being asked to do. If you get it right you might turn an occasion into the highlight of the middle school graduates education so far. If you get it wrong you might provide comedic value or end up ruining what could be a wonderful day. The writing and delivery of a speech at a graduation ceremony is a big responsibility and therefore should be delivered with dignity.

The speech should also entertain those who listen to it without turning into some sort of farce. One of the main ingredients of a good middle school graduation speech is that it will have meaning for the people who are listening to it. For example it is advisable that you use language that is understood by the majority of people on the middle school graduation ceremony. It is no good making a great speech which no one can understand. The speech must also be thoughtful. However if you give the impression that the speech was a last minute preparation after you were requested to do the honors, then the attention span will also be limited. No matter how important you are, people will get bored with your directionless speeches and might eventually start to doze.
A good middle school graduation speech should pay tribute to the graduate for working hard and being able to come through junior high. There should also be some acknowledgment of the parents in realizing this achievement. It is also not to forget the teachers and school administrators without whose help, child would not have graduated. It is good manners to give thanks to people who may have contributed financially to the staging of the graduation ceremony. If there is middle school instructor who had a special relationship with the child, you should single them out for praise. Do not forget the classmates who will have provided companionship for the child throughout their middle school days and probably throughout their lives.
They say that practice makes perfect and they are absolutely right in this instance because it is quite difficult not to emphasize with a speech that has been well prepared. The night before, you might want to practice before you deliver the speech at the middle school graduation ceremony. At the same time you should ensure that you are not over rehearsed because this can make the speech to sound insincere or made up. The rehearsal is not so that you can parrot some crammed words but rather a means of getting rid of any early jitters that may affect your delivery.

As teachers, students and schools become so jam-packed with activities intended to produce socially contributing, life long learners that many aspects of the school experience become pushed aside. Parents and school boards continually pressure teachers to give students knowledge and skills which will benefit them after primary school.

A prime example of this is art education. Art has become a small section of the school day, which is often provided to students only if they need to ‘busy’ themselves or as a reward for completing the more ‘beneficial’ subjects. I believe that by undermining the importance of art in school, students and teachers alike are missing out on many opportunities for meaningful development. In her article “Art Really Teaches”, Dr. Violet Robinson discusses how art can be helpful and effective in the areas of personal development, social development, physical development and language development. I agree that art holds many opportunities to explore these areas with, and within our students.

Although school professes to be a place where students learn about the subject matter within the curriculum, it is easily seen that the most meaningful learning that occurs is on a much deeper level. Personal development, when properly and successfully encouraged, enables students to achieve a sense of positive self-concept, high self-esteem and high self-efficacy. Art as a form of personal expression and creativity can greatly benefit students in their search for identity. Through the creation of concrete objects and pictures, storytelling and emotional expression, students are given an avenue where they may take responsibility for their work, and where they can, hopefully, create with a sense of achievement and without judgment.
Along with personal development, schools are a place where students experience social development, often to an extent greater than any other place in their lives. Art can foster positive social development through group projects, which allow for a sense of group accomplishment and cooperation, and the sharing of personal stories and ideas. Art offers a way of communication, which, on a very basic level, is interdisciplinary and multilingual. This may offer students from various backgrounds the opportunity to share and experience together, without language barriers. The creation of art and the expression it encourages may serve to develop the forms of language other than spoken and written form. Art provides a means of communication which may or may not include written and spoken language. As art may take almost unlimited forms, it can often serve to increase and aid physical development in students and teachers alike. For example, sculpture may take active form, expression can be found in dance and movement and dexterity, rhythm and coordination can all be found in various art forms.

It has been documented that the gravitation towards art tends to diminish throughout the school years. This may be due to lack of instruction of basic ability, the tendency of students to think that art is best left to those with natural ability, and, as mentioned earlier, the view of art as an unimportant part of the curriculum. As mathematics has been considered ‘the great equalizer’ among students, I believe art is ‘the great unifier’. Art, when properly introduced, taught and encouraged, holds the potential to give students a lifelong avenue for expression, development and learning.

With the recent additions to the curriculum of ensuring each a day there is an hour being spent teaching literacy and numeracy, there has been pressure to dismiss some of the more creative learning. However, a Creative Primary Curriculum is a way of ensuring that children benefit from creative subjects without jeopardising the national curriculum. Purchasing one could also make a vast difference to the performance of a teacher, which in turn benefits a child’s learning.

Creative Primary Curriculum, ensures that a child gains the experience and learning of subjects such as Space, Growth and Habitats. Creative Primary Curriculum’s have been known to enhance a child’s First school experience and help them to understand the importance of subjects that help develop creative and social skills as well as the vital core subjects such as Maths and English. All children are entitled to learn a range of subjects to help them better themselves and this means gaining knowledge in a selection of subjects. Also because they so varied, some of the tasks are more effective if a ‘hands on approach’ is used to teach them rather than a sit and listen technique. Creative Primary Curriculum also allows pupils to experience things outside of the National Curriculum, moulding students into a well-rounded, intelligent people.

School reforms are always a hot topic when it comes to government proposals and even PTA meetings. Obviously the majority of parents have their children’s education as one of their top priorities as they want the best for their children in and after school. As a result government proposals are often being made to change the education system in Britain in an effort to make it better.

This results in a lot of proposals being thrown into the mix as education from early primary to graduation undergo alterations. The key factor in changing childhood education is society. As society changes so do the ways we educate our children in order to integrate them into it successfully as adults. At the moment one of the biggest topics relates to British Citizenship.

With the growth of the EU and an influx of immigrants from countries such as Poland and Romania the shape of British culture is changing.
As a result Citizenship classes are springing up in schools to provide even very young children with education on being British and assist in the integration of foreign nationals. Another change that this shift in culture is causing is the change of languages taught in school. While French and German remain, other languages such as Polish and Urdu are becoming more prominent.
Schools are now more than ever being geared toward providing children with life skills that will assist them after school. Money Management classes (like those seen in the Bank of Scotland adverts) are becoming more popular as they seek to teach children to learn how to budget and handle money when they reach employment. These classes are backed up by the introduction of career advice and advice on gaining employment. These career advice classes are being touted to even primary schoolchildren. While not everyone agrees with these changes it is important to remember that schools have been reforming and changing for decades to fit with the changing society. The only constant seem to be that there will always be a need for essential equipment such as classroom furniture as educational supplies. They are, after all, the staple diet of any educational establishment.

Should we be teaching our newest generation of learners how to use technology more? Anyone with young children will know that using technology is natural for our youngest generation. Indeed they have been brought up in a world with multi channel TV’s, computers, mobile phones, hand held gaming devices and online games. Yet how are we teaching them to use this technology wisely?

The internet is now a key resource for children’s homework, gone are the days they would trek down to the local library and research through hundreds of books. Now they just ‘Google It’. How are we preparing our children in research skills to decipher fact from opinion? A recent article in The Guardian, UK, leaked a report about teaching children about Twitter and Wikipedia. This will undoubtedly cause a stir amongst our educators and parents.
But discussion is good because it means we are questioning whether we are doing the right thing for our children to equip them with the skills they will need in their everyday life. I believe that we should be using the technology that is available to engage our youngest generation of learners. We are preparing our children today for jobs that do not even exist yet. But one thing is for sure they will be using technology in their everyday life.

If you are looking for an independent primary school for your child, you may need to consider certain factors. Parents’ search for schools usually starts by making a list of the schools available in the vicinity. So first of all, make a long list of schools present in your city. Next, parents would need to collect information packs from various schools. Each school provides a booklet containing valuable information about its values, curriculum, fee structure and admission procedure. Parents can access the information pack of every school through its website, as most of the schools today have their own websites.
After collecting the data, parents should start evaluating each school. The curriculum should be broad and balanced. It should cover all the aspects of education as prescribed by the National Curriculum. The teaching method is also a consideration. Parents may need to visit each school to observe the teaching techniques of the staff as well as the activities and learning experiences planned for the children. For this, they may need the permission of the head teacher. Parents would find no difficulty in getting the permission, as a school head teacher is a well-read person and he/she understands the concern of parents.
While visiting schools, parents should also carefully examine the size of classrooms and seating arrangement. See whether the classroom is properly ventilated or not. Student-teacher ratio should also be of your prime concern. Satisfied with the classroom conditions, you can move on to examine the civic amenities.

Games, sports and extra curricular activities are equally important for your child’s overall development. Who knows, your child may have the potential to become a world-class athlete, swimmer, football player, rugby player or a chess champion one day. Parents should not forget to ask about the sports and extra curricular activities provided by the school. The head teacher is the right person to ask such questions. You may request the head teacher to spare sometime to give answers to all your queries.

During your interaction with the head teacher, you can ask about the medical facilities provided in the school. Also ask about the security of your child in the school premises. In fact, most UK schools today get their staff checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.
The last thing to consider is the distance your child is going to travel from home to preparatory school or primary school. A distant school means your child is going to spend his/her maximum time in commuting. Extensive travelling can make your child tired. In addition, your child will not get enough time to play or study at home.
Consider all these factors carefully and make a prudent decision. After all it is a matter of your child’s future.
